Skippycoin is the digital rewards project of the Australian Regional Network
Skippycoin, or SKC, began as an ambitious Australian digital currency project built around the idea that everyday people, local communities and Australian business should be able to participate in a more local and more rewarding digital economy.
The project has already gone much further than a simple concept. Skippycoin was developed as a real coin ecosystem, including wallets, blockchain infrastructure and a broader technical vision. Through that work we gained valuable practical experience and, just as importantly, some deeper philosophical lessons about digital money, mining, incentives and what it really means to build something that does good.
Today the project remains alive, but in a more thoughtful development phase. Rather than pretending nothing has changed, we believe it is better to say openly that our thinking has evolved. We are now exploring the next chapter of Skippycoin as a more useful, more ethical and more rewarding token model, likely connected to the Australian Regional Network itself.
Our long-term goal is for Skippycoin to become a practical reward token for the ARN: something that can recognise membership, contribution, loyalty, local commerce and community participation across our growing network of Australian websites. We are especially interested in models where the token may one day support local business rewards, promotions, shopfront participation and community-led value in a way that is more tangible and more useful than a typical meme coin.
We are also exploring a future relaunch path that draws on lessons learned from earlier work and from newer token models, including development approaches better suited to utility, transparency and responsible operation.
In simple terms, we still like the dream: an Australian-born digital reward asset with a strong identity, a sense of fun, and a genuinely useful role inside a living Australian network.

Skippycoin remains a development project of interest to us, and the information here is maintained because the idea still matters. As the ARN grows, we expect the practical role of Skippycoin to become clearer.
